After seeing the sights in Lagos take a day,
or two or even three, to explore the nearby
countryside. The area of Algarve on the
South Coast of Portugal is an area of
unspoilt natural beauty. With some twenty
golf courses it’s easy to see why the
Algarve is also considered Europe’s ultimate
all-year-round golfing destinations.
Several old medieval fortresses are
present along the Western Algarve, and these
were built to help fend off the raids by
Dutch and English pirates. And finally head
to Vila do Bispo, which has the honour of
being the most south-west location in
Europe.

|
| |
 |
Of course most impressive are the towering
cliffs of the coast, which make for a unique
spot where you can gaze out to the Atlantic
from the very edge of Europe! The West coast
has some of the best golden sandy beaches in
Europe, nestling in rocky coves. It is a
haven for those in search of tranquillity
and the chance to experience real Portuguese
life in quaint towns and picturesque fishing
villages.
